Area youths receive $5,000 in the name of firm’s founding attorney Gerard Pellegrini
(Springfield, MA) Five area students recently were each awarded a $1,000.00 Gerard L. Pellegrini Scholarship to advance their education by the law firm that bears his name.
The Gerard L. Pellegrini Scholarship is given each year to a union member associated with the Western MA Area Labor Federation, or to their spouse or dependent. To apply, individuals must provide their high school or college transcripts, letters of recommendation, a summary of recent community service, and an essay detailing how the scholarship will assist them in reaching their educational and career objectives, while also enabling them to contribute to their community.
"The annual scholarship reflects our firm's dedication to supporting union members and their families in achieving better futures through education," said Earl Seeley III, a partner at the law firm and grandson of Gerard Pellegrini. "My grandfather was deeply passionate about advocating for workers' rights and spent more than 50 years fighting for injured workers. Coming from a working-class background, he knew firsthand the transformative power of education. Ensuring access to education was something he valued greatly, and it's a legacy we continue to uphold," Seeley emphasized.
Winners of this year’s awards are: Genevieve Lagrant of Ware, Sophie Levenson of Longmeadow, Caden Matuszczak of Westfield, Autumn Padilla of Chicopee, and Ruby Sweetman of Wilbraham.
